HelpdeskHero includes built-in AI tools to help you write articles faster. You can connect your preferred AI provider and use a guided workflow to generate high-quality content.
Supported AI Providers
HelpdeskHero works with multiple AI providers. You can choose and configure your preferred one:
| Provider | Model Examples |
|---|---|
| OpenAI | GPT-4o, GPT-4o-mini |
| Anthropic | Claude Sonnet, Claude Haiku |
| Gemini Pro, Gemini Flash | |
| xAI | Grok |
Setting Up Your AI Provider
Go to Settings in your dashboard
Find the AI Configuration section
Select your preferred provider
Enter your API key for that provider
Click Save
Your API key is stored securely and is only used to make requests to the AI provider on your behalf. You are responsible for any costs incurred with your AI provider.
The Two-Step Generation Workflow
HelpdeskHero uses a guided Plan then Build approach:
Step 1: Plan
When creating a new article, click Generate with AI. You will be asked to:
Enter a topic or title for the article
Optionally select a word count target
Optionally provide a reference URL — HelpdeskHero fetches the page content to give the AI context
Optionally upload a reference image — the AI analyzes it using vision capabilities
The AI generates an outline showing the proposed structure, headings, and key points.
Step 2: Build
Review the outline and click Build when you are satisfied. The AI then generates the full article content based on the approved plan.
You can edit the generated content afterward using the regular editor — it is just Markdown.
You can override the AI provider per request. If your default is OpenAI but you want to try Claude for a specific article, select it from the provider dropdown in the generation dialog.
AI Rewrite (Bubble Menu)
In the visual editor, select any text to open the Bubble Menu. Click the AI rewrite option to:
Improve the writing quality
Make text more concise
Change the tone
Expand on a topic
The AI rewrites just the selected text while keeping the rest of your article unchanged.
