Open Branding in the dashboard’s top navigation to change the appearance of your public help center. Start with the theme and layout, then adjust colors and labels to suit your brand.
Choose a light or dark theme
Under Theme, click Light or Dark. This changes the overall appearance of your public help center. The widget has its own theme setting under Embeds > Widget.

Choose Light or Dark using the highlighted controls.
Choose the page layout
The Template Layout section offers three options:
- Default — a hero area, search, and a grid of cards.
- Docs — a top bar, left navigation, and an on-page table of contents.
- Sidebar — a documentation layout with navigation.
The selected layout has a highlighted border and check mark. Use View Helpdesk in the top navigation to check the result on your public site, including an article page.
Choose what opens on your home page
Under Home article, you can select a published article to open when someone visits your help center’s root URL. Leave the selection empty to show the default home page. Selecting an article redirects visitors from the root URL to that article.
Set the heading and subtitle
In Hero Text, use Heading for the main welcome text and Subtitle for the supporting line. For example:
- Heading: “How can we help?”
- Subtitle: “Find setup guides and answers to common questions.”
Check the public home page to see how these appear in your chosen layout. If a Home article is selected, visitors are redirected to that article instead.
Adjust the colors
Scroll to Colors. Click a color swatch to use the picker, or enter a hex value such as #3b82f6 in the field next to it.
- Background Color controls the main page background.
- Primary Color is used for links and accents.
- Text Color controls body text.
- Surface Color controls cards, headers, and section backgrounds.
- Button Text Color sets the default button text color for the contact form, ticket center, and widget. Each of those can override it.
Where the field says to leave it empty for the default, clear the custom value to use the default. Keep text easy to read against its background, and check both links and buttons after changing colors.
Set corner roundness and the accent gradient
The Border Radius slider controls the roundness of cards, inputs, and buttons. Lower values make corners more square; higher values make them more rounded.
Under Accent Gradient, choose Start and End colors. These are used for numbered heading blocks and ordered-list markers when enhanced styling is enabled. You can also choose this gradient in the widget’s Accent Style setting.
Rename navigation labels
Under Navigation Labels, customize Articles button, Categories button, and Back button. For example, use “Guides” instead of “Articles”. Keep labels short so they fit comfortably in the navigation.
Add your brand images
The top of Branding contains Company Logo, Favicon, and Social share image. The logo identifies your help center, the favicon appears in the browser tab, and the social share image is used in link previews.
See Branding Your Help Center for the image controls, or Setting Your Social Share Image for preview artwork.
Check the finished appearance
Use the Preview panel for a quick visual check, then open View Helpdesk to review the actual home page and an article. Check text contrast, link visibility, navigation labels, and how the layout looks on a narrow screen.
