Use the Articles page to find existing content, open it for editing, and control whether readers can see it. Open Help Center > Articles in your dashboard. On smaller screens, open the navigation menu first.
Article List
- Enter part of an article title in the search field above the list.
- Check the matching rows. Each row shows the title, category, publication status, and view count.
- Click the title to open the article editor.
- Clear the search field to see the full list again.
Search by title, then click the article you want to edit.
Use New Article at the top right to start a new guide. See Writing Your First Article for a walkthrough of the editor.
Publishing and Drafts
An article’s status controls its public availability:
- Published — readers can access the article on your public help center.
- Draft — the article is saved but not available on the public help center.
To take an existing published article out of public view, open the three-dot menu at the right of its row and choose Unpublish. The same menu includes Edit and Delete.
Unpublish is useful when you want to keep the article but stop showing it publicly.
You can also change the Published switch in the article editor’s Publish card, then save your changes. Check the status after saving so you know whether the article is live or still a draft.
The editor’s Do not show in widget setting has a different purpose: it keeps an article on the public help center while hiding it from the embedded widget’s search, popular list, and AI answers.
View Counts
The view count beside each article helps you identify frequently visited topics. Use it to decide which guides deserve regular checks and better screenshots. A high view count shows interest; it does not by itself tell you whether readers found the answer they needed.
URL Handles
The URL Handle is the final part of an article’s address, also called its slug. Open the article and find this field below Description.
- Use a short, descriptive handle, with words separated by hyphens.
- Check the displayed article URL before saving.
- After changing a published article’s handle, test both the new address and an existing old link to make sure readers still reach the article.
See URL Redirects for managing old addresses.
Categories
Open the article editor and choose a category from the Category dropdown. Save the change, then check the category shown in the article list. The card appears beside or below the editor depending on your screen width.
Choose the category where a reader would naturally look for the answer. For example, place an upload tutorial in Content & Editing rather than in an unrelated setup category. See Managing Categories to create or reorder categories.
Excerpts
The short summary is entered in the Description field near the top of the article editor. Write one or two sentences explaining what the reader will learn or accomplish.
For example, “Learn how to upload a screenshot, insert an existing image URL, and save the result” is more useful than “Information about images.”
Deleting Articles
The three-dot menu on each article row includes Delete. Deletion is permanent, so keep a copy of any content you may need later. If you only want to remove an article from public view, use Unpublish instead.
