Tidio alternative: Helpdesky

Looking for a Tidio alternative? Helpdesky gives you a help center, AI search, contact form and ticket center for $9 a month, no usage meter.

If you are searching for a Tidio alternative, the trigger is usually one of these: the bill jumps once you cross the included Lyro AI conversations, or the public knowledge base feels secondary to the chat product, or you want a full ticketing portal that customers can sign in to.

We built Helpdesky for the small teams who want a help center first, with chat and tickets attached, at one flat price.

Why people switch from Tidio

The patterns we see in reviews:

  • Usage based pricing for live chat conversations and Lyro AI conversations. The bill changes month to month based on traffic. See Tidio pricing.
  • The public help center is more of a side feature than a first class product. Many Tidio users keep their docs in a separate tool.
  • Custom branding on the chat widget is good, but on the help center side it is limited.
  • Lyro AI is genuinely strong, but priced per conversation, which can be uncomfortable for high traffic SaaS.

Helpdesky at a glance

Helpdesky is a help center, widget, contact form and ticket center in one product. Unlimited seats on every plan.

  • Free, $0 a month, 1 helpdesk, 2 articles, 10 conversations
  • Pro, $9 a month, 50 articles, 150 conversations, custom domain, branding removal
  • Ultimate, $29 a month, 3 helpdesks, unlimited articles and conversations

Flat pricing means no end of month surprise from a traffic spike. See Helpdesky pricing.

Side by side: Helpdesky vs Tidio

Pricing

Tidio's bill scales with billable conversations and Lyro AI conversations. Helpdesky is one flat price per workspace per month. Predictable, easy to budget, easy to defend internally.

Helpdesky uses semantic RAG search over your articles, on every plan, with no per conversation fee. Lyro AI is great for full chat handoff, but for the common case of "answer this from our docs", Helpdesky's AI search does the same job without metered pricing. See Ask AI in the Widget.

Custom domains

Every Helpdesky plan supports custom domains through Cloudflare for SaaS. Your help center lives at help.yourbrand.com with SSL handled for you. See Setting Up a Custom Domain. Tidio's help center sits on a Tidio subdomain unless you do extra work.

Contact form

Helpdesky's contact form is a clean drop in embed that posts into your shared inbox. Tidio's chat widget can capture pre chat info, but a standalone branded contact form takes more setup.

Ticket center

Helpdesky's ticket center is an embeddable customer portal where signed in users see all their conversations in one place. Tidio's Help Desk module is solid for staff but the customer side is mostly chat threads, not a real portal.

No plugins

Helpdesky has no marketplace. The widget, AI, custom domain, ticket center, email channel and API are all in the base product. Tidio relies on its app integrations for Shopify, WordPress, BigCommerce and so on, which is great if those are your stack and less great when you want everything native.

Many customisations

Helpdesky lets you set logo, favicon, brand colour, light or dark theme, and pick between two help center layouts. The widget is themable end to end. See Customising Your Widget. Tidio's widget is well designed but the help center side is more rigid.

Email forwarding

Each Helpdesky helpdesk gets an inbound address like yourslug-123456@inbox.helpdesky.io. Forward your existing support@ inbox and emails turn into threaded conversations. Read Email Forwarding Setup. Tidio supports email channel too.

Widget with helpdesk and AI help

The Helpdesky widget combines instant article search, AI answers, quick questions, in widget article reading and a messaging tab. See Adding the Widget to Your Site.

When Tidio might still be the right fit

If you run an ecommerce store on Shopify or WooCommerce and Tidio's product feed sync, cart context and proactive sales chat are core to your conversion strategy, Tidio is a strong pick. Same if you want Lyro to fully resolve chats end to end and you accept the per conversation pricing. Helpdesky does not chase the sales chat use case.
